The stunning ultra rare soundtrack composed and orchestrated by Giovanni Fusco for the 1964 movie directed by Michelangelo Antonioni starring Monica Vitti, Richard Harris and Xenia Valderi.
Giovanni Fusco has been one of the first soundtrack composers in Italy (he composed his first soundtrack in 1936). The trademark of his music have always been researching new sounds and electronic effects.
This album is one of the rarest and most sought after italian soundtracks of all times, with original copies, if you’re lucky enough to find one, changing hands for more than 700 euros. What we’re offering you is the reissue in it’s original artwork with the music taken from the original analog master tapes!!! To make it special we have decided to leave the session as it is, without any break between songs, so that you can hear what happened in the studio!!!
Side A contains The Original 1964 Soundtrack Suite (18’:12”), including the songs Astrale, Happy Surf, Nevrosi, Orgia, La Favola (narrated by Monica Vitti). The music is mainly “killer lounge” with a touch of jazz and a touch of electronic, but the first song is an experimental electronic piece.
Side B contains Il Surf Della Luna Suite (17’:40”), where you’ll find in a single sequence six versions of Il Surf Della Luna orchestrated and directed by Giovanni Fusco, Roby Poitevin, Piero Umiliani, Piero Piccioni, Gino Marinacci, Ralph Ferraro.
Master and sound restoring done by Roberto Zamori at Film Music Art Studio.
