Isao Tomita, often known simply as Tomita, is a Japanese music composer, regarded as one of the pioneers of electronic music and space music, and as one of the most famous producers of analog synthesizer arrangements.
This is the original motion picture soundtrack to ‘Catastrophe 1999’ (aka ‘The Prophecies Of Nostradamus’), directed by Toshio Masuda in 1974.
Composed, arranged and conducted by Isao Tomita (who also played the synthesizer music for the soundtrack), it was released by Tam on LP in 1974 in Japan only. Some must say that ALL of Tomita’s albums are rarities, but what we have here is probably the best and rarest soundtrack composed by the Maestro.
A Science Fiction soundtrack, featuring electronic music played with Mellotron synthesizers and a jazz/rock orchestra in a very Ennio Morricone-like style. An epic space-funk masterpiece!!!
Master and sound restoring done by Roberto Zamori at Film Music Art Studio.
